Half Face drawing
Kaed Kniffing is a 13 Year Old from Escondido, Ca. He was borned into a wealthy family and has been pursuing a career as a professional motocross athlete since he was 10. His daily routine consists of waking up and loading his bikes and equipment into his van and heading to the track where he will spend multiple hours practicing and testing his equipment. Then after a long day at the track he will head home where he will prep his bikes for the next day and work on his school work. Then this process will repeat the next day. He personally gives me inspiration because of his dedication for his sport. It’s insane how young he is but how mature he can be throughout all his responsibilities and duties. My sketch reflects how he can be serious while in his gear but truly inside he is just a kid.
For this project we picked an image, then were supposed to draw the other half. I actually took both of the photos and I tried to something a little different by drawing the other half of his actual face inside the helmet. It was a fun little project and I think I did pretty well.

1/4 Grade proPOSAL
1. What grade do you feel you have earned this quarter based on your work (use examples in your DP) and the minimum requirements in the class and projects. What is your role within your watershed magazine group and what are you specifically responsible for?
I personally think I deserve a solid B+ for this first quarter. I completed everything with the minimum requirements necessary
then I would go a little above and beyond. For example, for the water color project I started off sketching a photo of a friend on a dirt bike that I took myself. I finished that sketch and realized that it was to small and not detailed enough so I started over by printing out a larger image of a dirt bike and the gun. Then I sketched that one and transferred it over to a water color paper, I took A LOT of time with all the details and different colors finishing it off as my final draft. Then I was told that I had to do another draft and to be honest I was pretty bummed. Then I realized it was a second chance to make my work even better. So I re-started by sketching another draft changing the angle of the dirt bike rider and the gun. By the time I finished that draft, it was better then ever. It was all straight with not as many mistakes as the first draft. For the Watershed project, my role is the farmer. I started off by thinking outside the box for my interview, this past weekend I took a trip to Indiana/Kentucky for a family wedding and I thought what would be a better opportunity than interviewing a real farmer. So I ask my relatives if they had any connections with any farmers and it turned out that there was a farmer that lived up the street we were staying. So I took some time off of vacation and interviewed him. My part in the project is to get some film for a video that my group is working out.
2. In what ways have you pushed yourself to improve in the course? (examples) Have you seen any benefit from this class and your others, or in other words do you feel like the courses influence one another?
I proved my self when working on the illustrator infographic because when I started off I was inexperience with no idea how to use the tools. My working in beginning was like a little kid spotted paint on a page but after a while of using it it turned out a little better. I had experience with photoshop but Illustrator is different, I took a shortcut by finding cartoon images off the internet and transferring it onto to illustrator then tracing it so all my images looked clean. Then I used the paint bucket tool to fill all the objects to make my work look a lot better.
3. What is one area for growth that you see for yourself in the course? At school in general?
Even though it's a basic concept, I want to be able to be better at basic sketching. Just seeing a object or a person and just to draw it on paper. It would be a skill that would help in everything in art from basic water coloring to tracing something.
4. What specific plans/methods will you use to accomplish your goals for the class/school
I think just being contestant and sketching as much as I can in my sketchbook would be best. Practicing makes perfect.
5. What can I do to make the class better for you as a student/learner. (Be Kind, Specific, and Helpful)
I like the structure of this class and there is really nothing I think can think of off the top of my head. I enjoy the freeness of the class and the music brings fun and good vibes to the class and it's a great working environment. Maybe allow students to plug in there phone and play there own music as long as it's school appropriate.
Water color project
I started this project feeling blind, I have not had the greatest past in Art class. I have never had the skills of drawing great but when I attempt to draw I try my hardest. I started by thinking of a simple idea, a photo of a dirt biker that I took and a gun photo I took off the internet. It took me a couple tries to trace it correctly. After finally finishing the tracing and transfering over and painting it. I was proud of it but after finding out that I needed to completle another draft, I was not excited. I put a lot of time and effort in the first draft. I didn't want to repeat the whole process. But when I got critique I realized what I could improve on so I did another draft and improve on it a lot more. This is a good habit for the future, even when you think you have done enough, there is always room for improvement.
